On 27th February 2020, the AHERI network team deployed an Internet Hotspot at the Community Initiative Support Services Community Centre in Ngiya along the Kisumu Siaya road. Ng’iya is located in Siaya county , its coordinates are 0 degrees 23’34’’North, 34degrees 22’28’.
The Community Centre hosts a Honey refinery, bakery and demonstration farms that are used to train local women and youth groups in addition to provision of additional income from the sale of honey.
Measurements were conducted which established the direction of the nearest base station which is 7 Kilometres away. A 10 foot pole was used to hoist the radio which will also act as a hotspot for Community members visiting the centre to learn. Two computers were also installed at the Digital Centre to facilitate acquisition of digital services to community members.
